PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Last Supper is an ideal pictorial representation of the most important event in the Christian doctrine of salvation - the institution of the Eucharist. There are countless copies and reproductions of the Last Supper in homes, places of worship, and museums throughout the world.

The goal of this workshop is to bring students in literature, history, philosophy and architecture  to reflect on the concept of this fresco painted by Andrea del Castagno,Domenico Ghirlandaio,
Andrea del Sarto and Perugino.

The main topic of the project focuses on the Renaissance culture in the historic Medicean town. It deals with the images of The Last Supper in Florence.

As the culture develops through assimilation of heritage it`s obvious that these images are the best evidence of a medieval Florence`s lifestyle The aim is to examine the Renaissance individual`s attitudes, values and worldview. The Last Supper has been the target of much speculation, usually centered around hidden messages or hints found within the painting. So our prime concern is to offer new insights into the inner world of the Renaissance individual who left a deep imprint on the history of mankind.
The theme is closely related to the evolution of the world system for cultural heritage preservation – the content and the scope of the cultural heritage enlarges from the single image through the historic past.
A system of cultural values and activities that is united around a cultural axis – still vital today. It also represents the evolving process of human intercultural links.
Through the comprehensive and complete vision of history and cultural heritage in loco we could discover the particular meaning of Life Beyond Tourism philosophy that is the dialogue and exchange among students and their cutures
Thus, the proposed topic presumes a multidisciplinary approach to the subject. In addition, the dialogue among experts from various fields would lead to a balanced relationship between preservation and development.
